SEND/SENCO

SEND

At Thomas Ashton School, we are committed to ensuring that every pupil receives the support, provision and opportunities they need to thrive both academically and personally. We recognise that each young person is unique, and we work closely with families, professionals and pupils themselves to develop highly personalised approaches that enable success.

Mrs E Stewart - Deputy Headteacher & SENCO

Mrs E Stewart, Deputy Headteacher and SENCO, takes the strategic lead for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities across the school.

Working closely with staff, families and external agencies, Mrs Stewart oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of SEND provision, ensuring that support is responsive to the diverse and often complex needs of our pupils. Through a deep understanding of individual strengths, barriers and aspirations, she ensures that provision is continually adapted to meet need, remove barriers to learning and promote positive outcomes.

Mrs Stewart plays a key role in maintaining a culture of inclusion, supporting staff to deliver high-quality, personalised teaching and ensuring that every pupil's educational experience reflects our values of Care, Trust and Innovation.

Contact: Mrs Stewart can be contacted via the school office on 0161 368 6208 or by email through the school's main contact arrangements.

Steph - EHCP Coordinator

Steph leads on the coordination and management of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) across the school.

Working closely alongside pupils, families, professionals and local authorities, she oversees the annual review process, ensuring that EHCPs remain accurate, aspirational and reflective of each young person's current needs, strengths and future goals. She coordinates multi-agency contributions, gathers pupil and family voice, and ensures that annual reviews are completed efficiently and in accordance with statutory requirements.

A central part of Steph's role is developing and coordinating bespoke educational offers for individual pupils. By understanding each young person's needs in detail, she works collaboratively with staff and external partners to design personalised packages of support, interventions, curriculum adaptations and pathways that enable pupils to engage successfully with education and make meaningful progress.

Through strong partnerships with families and professionals, Steph helps ensure that every pupil's provision is carefully tailored, regularly reviewed and focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for adulthood, independence and future success.
